The purpose of this club is to study, promote an interest in, and disseminate knowledge of Lapidary and various Earth Sciences including but not necessarily limited to geology, paleontology and mineralogy. It is the Club's purpose to provide education in these fields to its members and to the general public; particularly youth and student groups.

Benefits of Club Membership

Monthly meetings include a hobby-related program to stimulate the mind. This is a social event where members informally share hobby activities. A short business meeting precedes the activities.

Occasional Rock Parties where members share their hobby-related skills with other members. This event is hosted at the various homes/businesses of individual members. A potluck meal begins the fun.

Pick & Shovel newsletter. This monthly publication is packed with informative articles, news of upcoming events, as well as activities for junior members.

Who’s Who, the annual membership directory with contact information for all members.

Field trips. There are guided day trips or longer excursions to collect specimens and learn about the hobby.

Free admission to the annual gem and mineral show with show participation.

Free admission to the annual Mid-Winter Swap with participation.

Free admission to the Annual Summer Gem Fest with participation.

Paid membership entitles automatic enrollment in the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical & Geological Societies (MWF) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).
